Choosing Bifold Doors, can really make a statement to your property, allowing you to connect the outside to the inside on those warm summer days and are a great provider of natural light.
You may have decided to invest in a set of Schuco or Smarts Visofold Bifolding doors, but you’re not sure exactly what all the options associated with these Bifolding doors are, how they work and if they are going to be beneficial to you or not.
Below are a few of the most commonly ask questions that we’ve answered to make the process of finding your perfect Bifolding door easier for you…
How secure are they?
Your security and safety are of importance to us at The Bifolding Door Factory; with toughened safety glass used as standard and multipoint locking systems, you can be assured these Bifolding doors are secure.
Furthermore, here at The Bifolding Door Factory, every door we install, with a traffic door, comes with a Brisant Ultion British standard kitemarked 3-Star and Sold Secure diamond barrel, which will enhance the security of your home.

What material are they made from?
Bifold doors are available in many different materials and each have their own benefits. All doors supplied by the Bifolding Door Factory are aluminium, so you benefit from high thermal performance, sleek designs and strong and durable material.
What are my colour options?
There are a wide range of colour choices and finishes, including natural finishes, you can have on your Bifolding door which allow you to choose the best fit to tie in with your interior and exterior design plans.
Will I need to install a bottom track?
The answer is yes and no. Internal timber wardrobe bi-folds are top hung. With the weights associated with these doors, having a top hung system would add additional weight on the lintel, meaning your lintel size would have to increase. All our systems at The Bifolding Door Factory are bottom hung, giving you the benefit of having most of the weight on the bottom, making the doors more reliable.
Can you use self-cleaning glass?
With the busy lives we all lead, it is unlikely we will get round to keeping our Bifolding doors looking fresh and new by cleaning the windows ourselves. Having them fitted with self-cleaning glass is a way of keeping the glass in your Bifolding doors clean with much less hassle.
To get the most out of self-clean glass, direct UV light from the sun breaks down the organic matter which has built upon the glass and is then washed away by the rain. However, if your glass is shaded and doesn’t get a lot of direct sunlight, it will not clean itself effectively.
Will I need a door threshold?
All door thresholds can be installed low to allow for you have a virtually flat finish with your internal finished floor level. If you are looking for an external door, a weather-rated threshold is available as this means protection from the outside elements. There are also flush options for internal doors dividing two rooms.
