Waiting for your aluminium bifold doors to arrive is certainly exciting, since it means that your renovation job is nearly done and dusted… But before your FENSA installer comes over to fit them, you need to make sure that your home is ready as it is a big job and can take some time. You want to make it as easy as possible for the installers to get the work done as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
Take a look at the space where the doors are due to be fitted and assess what needs. You’ll need to clear as much of your belongings out of the room as you can – particularly if you have anything precious or breakable in the near vicinity.
When the fitting day does finally arrive, the fitters will check to make sure that the opening is measured correctly and that the doors have been made to fit it. You’ll need to ensure that they’re able to access the wall and so try your best to empty the room if you can.
If you can’t remove certain pieces of furniture, cover them up with dust sheets or similar to protect them as best you can. Head outside as well to see if there’s anything in the way there since bi-folds fixed to external walls and anything on your patio or in the garden could get in the way.
And don’t forget that bifold doors are a little on the big side so you should try to make it as easy as possible for the fitters to reach your house. If you can, make room for them to park their van as close to the home as they can to make it easier for them to access the garden. If possible, try to eliminate the need for them to carry the doors through the house.
Here at The Bifolding Door Factory, all our installers have been inspected and approved, ensuring that all installations comply with building regulations. Replacement products will be issued with a building control certificate for your peace of mind.
Our installation team will arrive on-site at the same time as the delivery driver, with the goods then unloaded and made ready for installation. The fitter will level the base brickwork to set the height and make sure the finished floor height is correct since such doors have to be installed level.
Always make sure you inspect the door after the work has been done before the fitters leave, however, as any damage to them post-installation, will not be accepted as our liability.
Of course, you can opt to have supply-only doors where you install them yourselves or a competent builder or tradesman. Full installation instructions provided if you choose this option instead.
