Bifold door installation

Installation

Bifolding Door Factory are FENSA Accredited Installers our installers have been inspected and approved. FENSA Accredited installers ensure all installations comply with building regulations and issue a building control certificate.

Installation of your bifold doors when installed by us we will always use professional fitters, and at least one of our team members will be a carpenter. Our installation teams have at least two members but sometimes three. Each team installs the doors to a high standard and always leave the property clean and tidy.

Supply only bifold doors

Many of our clients choose to save the installation cost and install the bifolding doors themselves this can be carried out by any competent DIY person or builder. Full installation instructions with every supply only order.

Bifolding doors are factory assembled

Every door is fully assembled and set up in one of our auto square assembly jigs. These jigs ensure the doors are fully operational before they are passed to despatch. Every door is checked to make sure it works correctly.

Quality control of bifold doors

Quality control inspection is carried out by a different employee who checks for ten operational functions and fifteen quality items. Due to the weight, transport and limited access frames are flat packed the doors are assembled  and ready to lift into the installed frame. When released from the quality control they are wrapped under the supervision of the quality inspector ensuring their preparation for transit. Quality control staff remain in control of the doors in the storage area until they are on the vehicle ready to leave our factory. All parts are loaded together, and none of the product is damaged. The process reduces the risk of incomplete deliveries or damaged goods. Quality control staff don’t load the vehicle; they merely supervise the correct handling, loading and securing the load ready for delivery.

Bifolding door installation day

Our installation team will arrive at the same time as the delivery driver. The goods are unloaded and made ready for installation. The very first thing done by the fitter is to inspect the opening and check the dimensions to ensure a successful installation. The fitter will level the base brickwork setting the height to ensure the finished floor height is correct. Bifold doors have to be level. When the base is level the cill if required is laid, and the frame is level on the brickwork. The frame is then fixed level and square using the correct length direct fixings. After the doors are set-up and glazed the doors when the fitter is happy with the set-up, he will use fixing foam to fill any spaces he feels necessary. This fixing foam is never used to fix the frame only to fill any larger gaps. The doors are always fixed using direct fixings and metal fixing screws into the head of the lintel. We use fixing foam because it does not expand too much and is more controllable; it also cures a little quicker. You must make sure no foam contacts any visible part of a door as it will mark the finished product. The fitters will then remove the protective tape. You will need to inspect the door before them leaving a site as any damage to the doors post-installation will not be accepted as our liability.

Supply only installations

Competent DIY person or builder can install our bifolding doors. We provide comprehensive installation instructions. Our installation managers or surveyors are available to help with telephone support should you need it.
